Mohamed Salah smiles when asked if he misses Liverpool

Mohamed Salah chose not to answer when asked whether he missed former club Liverpool after Trabzonspor’s defeat by Freiburg in the UEFA Conference League.

The Egypt forward was approached in the mixed zone after leaving Papara Park following Thursday evening’s 1-0 loss to the German side in the third round of the league phase.

Salah did not stop to give media interviews, but a journalist unexpectedly asked him: “Do you miss Liverpool?”

He continued walking without replying, responding only with a smile, according to a video published by Turkish network haber61, which covers Trabzonspor.

Salah spent nine seasons with Liverpool between 2017 and 2026, winning a number of European and English honours during a spell that established him as one of the most significant players in the club’s history at Anfield.

His departure at the end of last season has led many observers to suggest Liverpool have missed his contribution. The team have struggled in attack in the Premier League and currently sit fifth in the table on 15 points, having scored only 11 goals in nine matches.

Salah joined Trabzonspor after ending his long association with Liverpool, where he helped create a period of sustained success and became one of the club’s most recognisable figures. His brief reaction in the stadium’s mixed zone came after Trabzonspor’s latest European fixture, but he offered no further comment on his former club.

The 1-0 defeat by Freiburg was Trabzonspor’s third match in the league phase of the UEFA Conference League.
