Bayer Leverkusen rule out January exit for Algeria international Ibrahim Maza

Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that Ibrahim Maza will remain with the club until the end of the season, ending speculation that the Algeria international could join Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window.

According to an official club source, quoted by WinWin, the 20-year-old midfielder is certain to stay at Leverkusen for the remainder of the campaign. The German club’s directors are not considering a mid-season transfer and regard Maza as an important member of the squad.

Reports had suggested that Paris Saint-Germain were interested in signing the Algeria international. However, a Leverkusen official said the club had received no formal approach from the French champions.

Maza will therefore not move to Paris this winter, and the possibility of a January transfer has been ruled out.

Interest could grow in the summer

Although Leverkusen are determined to keep Maza for now, his situation could change once the season has finished. The young midfielder’s performances have already attracted attention from several major European clubs.

Maza has previously expressed his admiration for Paris Saint-Germain, saying: “Playing one day for Paris would be a huge dream.”

For the time being, he is expected to continue his development in Leverkusen’s colours and focus on fulfilling his potential before making a decision about the next stage of his career.

Leverkusen will soon face OM in their fourth match of the league phase of the Europa League, with Maza remaining part of the squad as the club prepares for that fixture.
