Pitso Mosimane has finalised his Bafana Bafana squad for the two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benni McCarthy’s Kenya.
South Africa made an ideal start to their Group D campaign, defeating Guinea 2-1 at home before recording a 5-0 victory over Eritrea. Those results have left Mosimane’s side top of the group with six points, three clear of Guinea.
Kenya and Eritrea each have one point.
The upcoming fixtures against McCarthy’s Harambee Stars will be played in the space of four days. Bafana Bafana will host Kenya at Orlando Amstel Arena on 13 November, before travelling to face them away from home on 17 November.
The group carries added importance because Kenya is one of the co-hosts of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. As a result, only one team from Group D will qualify for the tournament, increasing the importance of South Africa securing top spot.
Mosimane had originally selected a 38-man preliminary squad before reducing it to his final group, which he announced on Thursday.
The return of Mbekezeli Mbokazi is among the main talking points in the selection. Siyanda Ndlovu has also been included despite not featuring in the preliminary squad.
Bafana Bafana’s campaign began with a narrow win over Guinea, followed by a dominant result against Eritrea. They now face a Kenya team managed by former South Africa coach McCarthy in the two-match qualifying sequence.
The final selection is as follows:
