Al Qadsiah give squad 10-day break after Roshn Saudi League postponement

Al Qadsiah have granted their players a 10-day holiday following the unexpected postponement of a round of Roshn Saudi League fixtures.

The decision places Al Qadsiah alongside Al Hilal and Al Nassr, whose players were also given extended breaks after the league schedule was changed.

The Asian Football Confederation announced on Tuesday morning that the Asian Cup, which had been due to begin in January 2027, would instead start in December of the same year.

Following that announcement, the Roshn Saudi League association postponed matchweek 13. The fixtures had been scheduled to take place between 5 and 7 November, but will now be played at a later date.

The postponement has created additional space in the calendar and means there is no immediate need to increase the number of matches played over a short period.

According to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiyah, Al Qadsiah manager Brendan Rodgers decided to give his squad 10 days off as a result of the league change.

The eastern club will not arrange any friendly matches during the forthcoming international break. Instead, the players will follow recovery and fitness programmes when they return to training.

Rodgers’ decision mirrors the approach taken by the managers of Al Hilal and Al Nassr. Simone Inzaghi gave Al Hilal’s players a 10-day holiday, while Ange Postecoglou allowed Al Nassr’s squad nine days away from the club.

Al Qadsiah currently sit second in the Saudi league table with 28 points. They are ahead of third-placed Al Nassr on goal difference and are two points behind leaders Al Hilal.
