Erling Haaland seals Manchester City win in five-goal thriller at RB Leipzig

Manchester City moved up to seventh in the Champions League league phase after Erling Haaland’s late goal secured a 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig at Red Bull Arena.

The result took Manchester City to nine points after four matches, while RB Leipzig remain 29th with three points.

Castello Lukeba’s own goal gave the visitors the lead in the 38th minute. Haaland sent a cross into the RB Leipzig area and Lukeba turned the ball into his own net as Manchester City took control of the contest.

RB Leipzig responded shortly after half-time when Ridle Baku levelled in the 49th minute with a powerful strike that flew into the net.

Manchester City restored their advantage nine minutes later. Enzo Fernandez met a cross from Iliman Ndiaye with a well-placed header to make it 2-1.

The lead lasted only three minutes, however, as Antonio Nusa brought RB Leipzig level again in the 61st minute with another fierce effort from inside the penalty area.

Haaland then settled the match in the 78th minute. He completed a cross from Elliot Anderson to score Manchester City’s third goal and claim his 13th goal against RB Leipzig in only nine matches.

The victory gives Manchester City an important three points and moves them back into the leading positions in the Champions League league-phase table.
