Freiburg’s Christian Gunter unfazed by Mohamed Salah threat in Trabzonspor tie

Christian Gunter says Freiburg are prepared to face Mohamed Salah when they visit Trabzonspor in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.

Trabzonspor host Freiburg at 19:45 in the third round of the league phase, with the Turkish side looking to maintain their perfect start to the competition.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference, Freiburg defender Gunter said the team had already planned how to deal with Salah.

“I have to say that Salah is a great player, and we have prepared for how to face him,” Gunter said.

He added: “I am used to playing against players of Salah’s quality in Germany.”

Trabzonspor have won both of their opening matches in the UEFA Conference League and sit third in the table on six points.

Eight clubs, including Trabzonspor, have collected six points after the first two rounds.

Freiburg are 18th with three points, having recorded one win and one defeat.

Salah joined Trabzonspor at the start of the current season on a free transfer after leaving Liverpool.

The forward has scored 10 goals since the beginning of the campaign, including two in his two UEFA Conference League appearances.
