Relebohile Mofokeng is attracting interest from Lille and Bayer Leverkusen after making an encouraging start to life with Union Saint-Gilloise.
The 22-year-old South Africa international is being monitored by several European clubs and could become one of the players to watch during the forthcoming winter transfer window.
According to Sky Sport, Lille are following Mofokeng’s progress closely and have included him on their shortlist for future transfer windows. However, the French club faces competition from Bayer Leverkusen, who have also made enquiries about the forward’s situation.
Leverkusen’s scouts have been particularly impressed by Mofokeng’s performances since his move to Belgium. The attacker joined Union Saint-Gilloise this summer from Orlando Pirates and has settled quickly into his new surroundings.
He has been used in a second-striker role within Union Saint-Gilloise’s system, contributing five goals and four assists in 15 matches across all competitions. His current market value is estimated at 6 million euros.
Mofokeng’s form has increased attention in him beyond Belgium, although Union Saint-Gilloise have him under contract until June 2030, with the agreement also containing an option for an additional year.
That long-term deal gives the Belgian club a strong position, but the player could still receive enquiries from interested clubs in the coming months. It remains to be seen whether Lille or Bayer Leverkusen will make a formal move for him.
Union Saint-Gilloise’s next fixture will be against Celta Vigo in the fourth matchday of the Europa League league phase. The game will provide another opportunity for Mofokeng to continue his development and demonstrate why he has emerged as a target for clubs in France and Germany.
