Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan has been banned from appearing across all media outlets by the country’s Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR).

The decision, announced on Wednesday, forms part of a series of measures introduced by the council following publicly aired disputes involving the 60-year-old coach and his former wife, Dan Adam.

According to an SCMR statement, the ban was imposed under provisions of Egypt’s Press and Media Regulation Law, amid concerns over violations of regulations governing citizens’ privacy.

The council has also summoned the legal representatives of several electronic news websites for hearings over alleged breaches of privacy regulations.

It warned that legal action would be taken against any media outlet that violates the decision or republishes reports relating to the matters addressed in its statement.

The SCMR further confirmed that its previous decision prohibiting Adam from making media appearances remains in force.

The development comes as Hassan prepares Egypt for their upcoming doubleheader against Malawi in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, scheduled for 13 and 17 November.

However, the former striker will not be allowed to lead the Pharaohs from the touchline in either match after FIFA handed him a three-match suspension.

The sanction followed Hassan’s public criticism of refereeing decisions during Egypt’s encounter with Argentina at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
