Mané and Hakimi headline CAF Men’s Player of the Year nominees
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled a 10-man shortlist for the 2026 Men’s Player of the Year award, with Ghana international Antoine Semenyo, Senegal forward Sadio Mané and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi among the leading contenders.
The nominees, announced on Tuesday, November 3, feature some of the continent’s most outstanding performers, representing leading clubs across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Semenyo earns a place on the shortlist following an impressive campaign for club and country. The Ghanaian forward, who now plays for Manchester City, has continued to establish himself among Africa’s top attacking talents.
Mané, a two-time African Footballer of the Year, is also in contention after another season representing Al Nassr, while Hakimi has been recognised for his performances with Paris Saint-Germain.
Hakimi will be hoping to defend the title following an outstanding performance last season, where he helped PSG to annex the Champions League for the second time running.
Morocco are further represented by Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Díaz and Bayern Munich forward Ismael Saibari, while Senegal have two other nominees in Ismaïla Sarr of Crystal Palace and Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye.
Ivory Coast winger Amad Diallo, who plays for Manchester United, and DR Congo forward Yoane Wissa of Newcastle United also make the list, alongside South African midfielder Teboho Mokoena of Mamelodi Sundowns.
The winner will be crowned at the 2026 CAF Awards ceremony, scheduled for Monday, December 7, in Lagos, Nigeria.
