Milan are in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over the appointment of former sporting director Markus Krosche as they seek to strengthen their football structure.
The proposed move has become increasingly advanced, according to Sky Sport Germany, although no final agreement has been reached. Negotiations are continuing over the financial terms required to release Krosche from his contract with the Bundesliga club.
Krosche, 46, was removed from his role at Eintracht Frankfurt on 18 October after approximately five and a half years in the position. However, the club did not terminate his contract, which remains valid until 2028.
As part of the arrangements surrounding his departure from the sporting director’s position, Krosche is understood to have secured a clause allowing him to join another club. Any club wishing to appoint him before summer 2027 would therefore have to pay between 5m and 7m euros, unless a different financial agreement is reached with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Milan are expected to appoint Krosche to a comparable position, with responsibility for leading the club’s football department. Sky Sport Germany has identified 1 January 2027 as a possible start date, coinciding with the opening of the winter transfer window.
However, discussions between Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt are still ongoing and the agreement has not yet reached its final stage.
Eintracht Frankfurt agree successor
Eintracht Frankfurt have already made progress in finding Krosche’s replacement, agreeing to appoint Joti Chatzialexiou as the club’s new sporting director.
Chatzialexiou, 49, previously worked at 1. FC Nurnberg. He is scheduled to begin officially on 1 February 2027, although he could join the club before then while discussions between the relevant parties continue.
The German executive is expected to sign a contract with Eintracht Frankfurt running until 2030. The transfer fee for his move from 1. FC Nurnberg is approximately 500,000 euros, with the deal made possible by a clause in his previous contract allowing him to leave.
