Togo manager Patrice Neveu had to be restrained by members of his staff and journalists after becoming embroiled in a confrontation with a reporter during a news conference.
The incident came as Togo announced its squad for the double-header against Algeria. Neveu appeared angered by a question about his objectives with the national team and lost his composure as he prepared to leave the room.
Asked about his ambitions with the Eperviers, Neveu said his primary task was not to qualify Togo for the next Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), but to rebuild the side.
As he continued his response, the manager said he believed the question was an attempt to destabilise him. The exchange increased the tension in the room, with the atmosphere becoming increasingly strained.
The situation escalated after the news conference had officially ended. Neveu moved towards the journalist who had asked the question, prompting members of his coaching staff and other reporters to intervene and hold him back.
A tense scene then developed inside the room before Neveu eventually left.
The incident comes only a few days before the Eperviers begin their training camp ahead of their two matches against Algeria, adding to the focus surrounding the Togo national team.
