Everton end losing run as Serino Bari seals away win at Newcastle

Everton returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory at Newcastle United in the final match of matchweek nine.

The result ended a run of two successive defeats against Chelsea and Arsenal and lifted Everton to 13 points, moving them up to seventh in the table.

Newcastle remain on 11 points and drop to 13th.

Serino Bari scored the only goal of the game, finding the net in the 49th minute to give Everton a decisive advantage.

Newcastle’s hopes of finding a late equaliser were further weakened when Jacob Ramsey was sent off in the closing stages after receiving two consecutive yellow cards.

Everton will face Coventry City in their 10th-round fixture before the international break, while Newcastle will play Fulham.

Arsenal lead the Premier League standings with 24 points, three clear of Manchester City, who were beaten by Brighton.
