\n\nIsmael Saibari will not play for Bayern Munich again this year after suffering an ankle ligament tear, sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed.
The Morocco international was injured during last weekend’s match against Borussia Dortmund and has already undergone surgery in hospital.
“He will not be back for some time,” Eberl told German media on Monday.
Eberl said the operation had been successful and revealed that Saibari was already back at the team’s lunch table the following day.
“The operation went well yesterday. Today (Monday), he was already sitting at our table for lunch again,” Eberl told Sky.
“I was completely surprised and asked him whether it would be two or three weeks. He laughed a little and said: ‘Two and a half weeks.’”
However, Eberl said that timetable was unrealistic, with Bayern expecting Saibari to miss three to four months because of the ligament damage.
“That probably will not be the case. We expect him to be unavailable for three to four months because of a rupture of the ankle ligaments,” he said.
