Kaizer Chiefs complete free-transfer deal for Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana
Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana on a free transfer, according to information reaching Soccer Laduma.
The 27-year-old became a free agent several weeks ago after ending his association with Tunisian club Esperance. A formal announcement is expected this week.
“It’s a done deal. You can expect an announcement sometime this week,” a source with close ties to Kaizer Chiefs told Soccer Laduma.
The development follows a report earlier on Monday that a move for Mokwana was imminent. That agreement has now been confirmed, with the winger set to join the Soweto club without a transfer fee.
Mokwana, who was born in Mpumalanga, established himself at Sekhukhune United before moving to Esperance in 2024. He subsequently spent time on loan with Saudi Arabian club Al Hazem.
After returning to Esperance, the two parties decided to end their relationship, leaving Mokwana available to join Kaizer Chiefs.
The move means Mokwana is now “Khosified”, a term commonly associated with players joining Chiefs.
His representative, Pontsho Madumo of Cream Sports Management, could not be reached for comment. Kaizer Chiefs also did not respond to inquiries about the deal.
Mokwana’s arrival strengthens the club’s attacking options as Chiefs prepare to officially confirm their latest signing.
