Lassine Sinayoko makes history in Ligue 1

Malian international Lassine Sinayoko continued his remarkable scoring form after netting twice in Paris FC’s 3-1 victory over AS Monaco on Sunday, November 1, in the French Ligue 1.

The 26-year-old striker delivered another outstanding performance on matchday nine, finding the back of the net twice to inspire his side to an important home victory and further underline his growing influence since arriving at the club.

Sinayoko joined Paris FC during the summer transfer window and has quickly established himself as one of the standout performers in the French top flight.

His latest brace takes his tally to eight goals in nine league appearances, making him the outright leading scorer in Ligue 1 this season.

Beyond his impressive numbers, the Malian forward has also written his name into the competition’s history books with his outstanding start to the campaign.

According to the historical record, Sinayoko has become the first African player to score eight goals within the opening nine matchdays of a Ligue 1 season since former Liberian international George Weah achieved the feat during the 1991/92 campaign.

Weah, who enjoyed a celebrated career in European football, had an even more productive start to that season, scoring 10 goals after the first nine matchdays.

Sinayoko’s achievement therefore places him alongside one of African football’s most celebrated figures in the history of the French top flight, highlighting the remarkable consistency he has demonstrated since the start of the campaign.

His impressive contribution has also coincided with Paris FC’s encouraging start to the season, with the newly promoted side occupying fourth position in the Ligue 1 standings after nine matches.

The Paris-based outfit will now look to maintain their positive momentum, with Sinayoko expected to remain central to their attacking ambitions as the campaign progresses.
