Lerumo Lions and Hope FC climbed the Motsepe Foundation Championship table with victories on Saturday, moving level on 17 points with Real Native and Cape Town City.
The results lifted Lerumo Lions into second place on goal difference after they beat AmaTuks 3-1 at home. Hope FC moved into fourth following a 3-0 away win against Gomora United, despite playing the match with 10 men.
The two sides took advantage of dropped points elsewhere, with leaders Magesi and Cape Town City still waiting to play their meeting on Monday evening.
Real Native had to recover from a two-goal deficit on Friday to earn a 2-2 home draw against North West University. ORBIT College and Venda Football Club, who are both still searching for their first victory of the season, also shared the points after a goalless draw.
The Bees recorded only their second win of the campaign, and their first since Joel Masutha became manager, with a 2-0 victory over Midlands Wanderers.
There was another 0-0 result in the Northern Cape derby between Hungry Lions and Upington City.
Highbury came from behind in Sunday’s only fixture to defeat Leicesterford City 2-1. The result ended a five-match winless run for the Gqeberha club.
Mpho Mlangeni gave Leicesterford City the lead in the first half, but Mervin Boji scored twice to secure the comeback victory for Vusumuzi Vilakazi’s Highbury.
Magesi remain three points clear at the top of the table before their match against Cape Town City at Athlone Stadium on Monday.
A win or draw would guarantee Magesi stay top, while a victory for Cape Town City would move them above their Limpopo opponents on goal difference.
