Real Madrid strengthened their push at the top of LaLiga with a 3-0 victory away to Racing Santander on Sunday, a result which moved them to within three points of FC Barcelona after 11 matches.
The win extended Real Madrid’s positive run and was capped by another influential display from Yan Diomande, who scored the visitors’ third goal and was named Player of the Match.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger struck in the 36th minute with a superb volley which flew into the top corner, leaving the home side with little chance. It was a decisive finish and another indication of the form Diomande has shown since the beginning of the season.
Diomande’s latest contribution also added to a series of notable statistical achievements. According to OptaJose, he is the first Real Madrid player this season to have scored at least four goals and provided at least four assists in all competitions.
He is also the first Real Madrid player to score twice from outside the penalty area during the current campaign.
The former Leipzig player has been particularly efficient in front of goal. His four goals for Real Madrid have come from only six shots on target, highlighting his accuracy and ability to make a difference when opportunities arise.
Diomande is gradually establishing himself as one of the season’s notable discoveries at Real Madrid. His performances have already earned him recognition in the squad, and his continued form could lead to an even more important role in the team.
