Imam Ashour left out again as Hussein Ammouta names Al Ahly squad for Al Mokawloon Al Arab

Al Ahly manager Hussein Ammouta has left Imam Ashour out of his squad for Monday’s Egypt Capital Cup match against Al Mokawloon Al Arab, while Mohamed Hany, Yasser Ibrahim and Ahmed Reda return to the group.

The match will be played at Cairo International Stadium on Monday as part of the second round of the group stage in Group C.

A number of established first-team players have also been omitted, with Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, Mohamed El Shenawy, Hussein El Shahat and Marwan Attia among those not selected by the Moroccan coach.

Ashour’s continued absence is the most notable aspect of Ammouta’s squad, with Al Ahly looking to build on their strong opening result in the competition.

The full Al Ahly squad is:

Goalkeepers: Mostafa Shobeir, Hamza Alaa.

Defenders: Yassin Marei, Achraf Dari, Ahmed Eid, Hady Riyad, Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Hany, Karim Fouad.

Midfielders: Ahmed Reda, Akram Tawfik, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Ali Mahmoud, Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Mohamed Abdullah, Taher Mohamed Taha, Omar Moawad.

Forwards: Soufiane Benjedida, Monsef Bekrar, Achraf Bencharki, Mahmoud Salah, Mohamed Raafat.

Al Ahly began their campaign with a 4-0 victory over Petrojet, earning three points and moving to the top of Group C.

They will now aim to make it two wins from two and maintain their position at the summit, despite the number of players missing from the squad.

The fixture also gives Ammouta an opportunity to assess several other members of the team and offer playing time to players who have featured less regularly.
