Egyptian Premier League side Masry have appointed Tunisian tactician Nabil Kouki as their new head coach following the departure of Ahmed Sami after a disappointing run of results.
The Port Said-based club confirmed on Friday that they had parted ways with Sami by mutual consent, bringing an end to his brief spell in charge.
Kouki is expected to begin work on Sunday as Masry prepare for their upcoming Egypt Capital Cup fixture against Petrojet.
The appointment marks a return to the club for the 56-year-old, who previously managed the Egyptian side during the 2025-2026 campaign before leaving towards the end of last season.
During his first spell, Kouki took charge of 40 matches, recording 17 wins, 14 draws and nine defeats.
He most recently parted ways with Tunisian club CS Sfaxien following comments he made about the club’s management.
Kouki becomes Masry’s third head coach this season, following the departures of Emad El-Nahhas and Sami.
El-Nahhas left after the third round of the Egyptian Premier League, while Sami’s tenure proved particularly difficult, with the team failing to win any of his five league matches.
Under Sami, Masry suffered defeats against Suez Petrojet and Ittihad of Alexandria before recording draws against Canal SC, Abu Qir Fertilizers and NBE Club.
His only victory came in the Egypt Capital Cup against Ceramica Cleopatra.
Masry scored just four goals in their five league matches under Sami, with all coming from penalties converted by Salah Mohsen. They also conceded seven goals and failed to score from open play.
Their latest league outing ended in a 1-1 draw against NBE Club on Wednesday, leaving them 11th in the standings with nine points from eight matches.
The result extended their winless run in the league under Sami to five games, during which they collected just three points.
Kouki will now be tasked with improving the team’s performances and results as Masry seek to revive their campaign.
