Lamine Yamal’s father, Mounir Nasraoui, returned to social media livestreams as his son scored twice in Barcelona’s 6-1 victory over Alaves at Camp Nou on Saturday.
Nasraoui followed the match online and reacted enthusiastically to another outstanding display from the Barcelona forward, sharing his thoughts with thousands of viewers.
During the broadcast, he addressed a detail that many people were unaware of: his son’s full name. According to Okdiario, Nasraoui said people were regularly mistaken about the player’s name and stressed that Yamal’s two surnames reflected his African heritage, particularly his Moroccan roots.
“Lamine Yamal is his name. His two surnames are Nasraoui Ebana, so that you know,” he said.
Although the player is widely known simply as Lamine Yamal, he has a compound name and two surnames from different parts of Africa. Nasraoui comes from his father, who is Moroccan, while Ebana comes from his mother, who is from Equatorial Guinea.
Yamal was born and has lived all his life in Barcelona but chose to represent Spain at international level. That decision led to disagreements with Morocco, who attempted to persuade him to play for the Atlas Lions instead of Spain.
After Barcelona’s win against Alaves, Nasraoui continued to celebrate his son’s contribution, praising one of his passes and comparing his style with that of former Brazilian playmaker Djalminha.
“What a pass! Pure magic, nothing more and nothing less,” he said. “You do not remember it, but it reminds me of Djalminha. He was good, but he did not play for the Brazil national team; he stayed here.”
Djalminha was one of Brazil’s most notable playmakers during the 1990s and the early years of the 21st century. He was known for his technical ability, distinctive touches and creative passing.
Although he rarely played for Brazil, Djalminha made his name in Spain with Deportivo La Coruna after joining the club in 1997. He remained there until 2004.
Nasraoui also aimed a message at Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in relation to the battle for top spot in the standings.
“Today we will win. You will never be top of the table because Lamine Yamal is on the pitch. Come on!” he said.
