Bayern Munich face Atletico Madrid test after Saibari and Gnabry leave Klassiker early

Bayern Munich lost Ismail Saibari and Serge Gnabry to injury during the first half of their Bundesliga meeting with Borussia Dortmund at Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Saibari was forced off in the 29th minute after colliding with Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Nathaniel Brown came on to replace the Morocco international.

Bayern’s afternoon was disrupted again two minutes later when Germany forward Gnabry left the field after appearing to suffer from pain. Josip Stanisic took his place in the 31st minute.

The extent of either injury is not yet known. Both players are expected to undergo medical examinations to establish the severity of their problems and how long they could be unavailable.

The setbacks come at a difficult time for Bayern, who are already without several players because of injury. Luis Diaz and Jamal Musiala are among those currently sidelined.

Bayern are due to travel to face Atletico Madrid on Tuesday in a crucial fourth-round fixture in the Champions League. The club will now await further assessments of Saibari and Gnabry before knowing whether either player can be involved.

Despite losing two players, Bayern went into half-time ahead in the Klassiker. Right-back Konrad Laimer scored in the 38th minute to give the home side the lead.
