Kane’s Ballon d’Or support revealed as only Mexico and Ivory Coast left him out

Harry Kane featured in the top 10 of every Ballon d’Or voting list except those submitted by journalists from Mexico and Ivory Coast, according to voting details published by France Football and reported by Spanish newspaper AS.

The Bayern Munich striker won the men’s award by a margin of 28 points over Kylian Mbappe, despite the unusually narrow spread in the final standings.

Kane was placed first by 40 journalists, while Mbappe received 23 votes at the top of the ballot. Lamine Yamal, who finished third with 881 points, was ranked first by 13 voters.

Mbappe omitted by three countries

Kane was not the only leading contender to be absent from some voters’ top-10 selections.

Mbappe was left out of the top 10 by three journalists, representing Greece, Scotland and Ukraine.

Yamal did not appear on four top-10 lists. Those votes came from Belarus, Cameroon, Croatia and Greece.

The published breakdown also showed how individual voters influenced the rankings of other players.

Rodri, who finished fourth and was the next highest-placed Spanish player behind Yamal, received first-place votes from journalists in 10 countries. Those countries were Nigeria, the United States, Guatemala, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Thailand, Vietnam, Croatia and Iceland.

Fabian Ruiz, who ended the voting in 10th place, was selected as the leading player by representatives from Gabon, Peru, Syria and Ukraine.

France Football’s figures provide a detailed picture of the voting behind Kane’s victory, showing that the Bayern Munich forward achieved widespread support across the participating countries despite the relatively small gap separating him from Mbappe.
