Al Shabab used a series of posts on social media to mock Al Ahli after recording a historic 6-1 victory in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.
The Riyadh-based side defeated Al Ahli at SHG Arena in the Saudi capital in the 12th round of the competition, completing one of the club’s biggest wins over their opponents.
The result was not the only contest Al Shabab won. After the final whistle, the club’s official account on X published about 10 humorous posts aimed at Al Ahli during the night, repeatedly referring to the six goals scored.
The tone was set during the match, when Al Shabab shared a picture of Al Ahli supporters leaving the stadium before the game had finished.
“This time, the withdrawal came early,” the club wrote.
The post was a reference to another 6-1 victory over Al Ahli in 2008, in the quarter-finals of the King Cup. Al Shabab’s account alluded to claims that Al Ahli players had pretended to be injured in order to bring that match to an early end.
After the latest result, Al Shabab published the score alongside a message congratulating their supporters.
“Congratulations on the easiest victory, Lions,” it said, using the nickname associated with Al Shabab.
The club then returned to the 2008 meeting by sharing an image of a supposed novel titled How the Castle Was Torn Down… Between Withdrawal and Escape, accompanied by the words: “The end of the story.”
Al Shabab also responded directly to Al Ahli’s own match report, which announced that the game had ended without displaying the score.
“Say it, don’t be shy,” Al Shabab replied, posting an image showing the 6-1 result.
Another graphic placed Al Shabab above Al Ahli and carried the caption: “Look up and the distance becomes clear.”
The Al Ahli account had presented the goals from the match as though they were part of a popular video game, writing: “Difficulty level: Al Ahli.”
Al Shabab went on to suggest that the defeat could be considered a preparation match for the club’s next Saudi Pro League fixture against Abha, who are bottom of the table. That match is scheduled for next Thursday in the 13th round.
The club’s final post used a familiar phrase associated with Al Ahli supporters: “When Al Shabab win, the earth sleeps contentedly.”
The number six featured throughout Al Shabab’s posts after the match, appearing in images, celebration videos and messages encouraging supporters to order the club’s shirt from its store.
The fixture listings also show Al Sadd in AFC Champions League Elite action on 02 November 2026, while Abha and Al Shabab are listed for a Saudi Pro League match on 05 November 2026.
