Arda Guler returns to Real Madrid training ahead of Racing Santander trip

Real Madrid have received a boost before Sunday’s La Liga meeting with Racing Santander, with Arda Guler returning to full team training after recovering from muscle discomfort.

The Turkey international had been working separately in recent days because of muscular fatigue, but took part in the squad session at the club’s Valdebebas training ground on Friday.

Guler’s return gives Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti another option for the visit to El Sardinero on 01 November 2026, as the club prepares for the 11th round of the Spanish league season.

The session was Real Madrid’s third training session of the week and was focused entirely on the upcoming away fixture against Racing Santander.

Valverde remains a doubt

Federico Valverde’s availability remains uncertain, with the Uruguay midfielder continuing to receive close medical attention.

Valverde is suffering from significant muscle fatigue after the considerable physical effort he produced in the Clasico against Barcelona. He continued with an individual programme on the pitch, away from the rest of the squad, leaving his participation in Sunday’s match in doubt.

Real Madrid are therefore still waiting for further clarity over whether Valverde will be able to join the team at El Sardinero.

Courtois back at full strength

There was further positive news for the squad in goal, with Thibaut Courtois returning to full-intensity training.

The Belgium goalkeeper has recovered completely from a fever that kept him out of Real Madrid’s previous sessions. His return indicates he is fully fit to start against Racing Santander and defend the Real Madrid goal at El Sardinero.
