Hakimi stars as PSG overturn Le Havre lead with first career treble

Achraf Hakimi scored the first hat-trick of his career as Paris Saint-Germain recovered from an early setback to beat Le Havre 5-1 at the Stade Oceane.

The Morocco international also provided two assists and captained a PSG side in which manager Luis Enrique rested several important players. Desire Doue, Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha and Joao Neves were among those left on the bench for the full 90 minutes.

Hakimi started alongside attacking options Mika Godts, Senny Mayulu and Ferran Torres, while Le Havre, the bottom side and enduring a difficult start to the season, took a surprise lead after 18 minutes.

Josh Maja put the hosts in front, but their advantage lasted only briefly. PSG quickly took control and turned the 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead two minutes later.

Godts scored the equaliser from Hakimi’s pass, giving the defender a second successive decisive performance. Hakimi had also played a key role in Monday’s meeting with Olympique Lyonnais, scoring the winning goal at Le Havre.

The 26-year-old continued to influence the game after half-time. He made it 3-1 in the 55th minute with a free-kick before Mayulu extended PSG’s advantage to 4-1 soon afterwards.

Hakimi completed his treble in the 69th minute. Godts sent him through, but his first effort was saved by Le Havre goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart. Hakimi reacted quickest to the rebound and finished to make it 5-1.

It was the first three-goal haul of his professional career.
