Ballon d’Or 2026: Vincent Garcia’s ballot put Harry Kane only sixth

The detailed voting for the 2026 Ballon d’Or has revealed that Vincent Garcia, editor-in-chief of France Football and a member of the French jury, ranked Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele above Harry Kane.

Garcia placed Mbappe first, awarding the Real Madrid forward 15 points. Ousmane Dembele, who won the 2025 Ballon d’Or, was second in his selection.

The ballot was notably different from the final result, in which Kane won the award. Garcia’s vote was the fourth closest to the overall ranking and was among those cast by 23 voters who selected the Real Madrid player as their top choice.

Kane finished only sixth on Garcia’s list. The England forward was placed behind Lamine Yamal in third, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in fourth and Lionel Messi in fifth.

French forward Michael Olise was seventh, followed by Norway striker Erling Haaland in eighth.

Rodri was ninth in Garcia’s ranking, despite finishing fourth in the final Ballon d’Or standings. His Spain team-mate Fabian Ruiz completed the list in 10th place.
