Lekie FF and FUS Rabat share spoils in opener

Cameroonian side Lekie FF and Moroccan outfit FUS Rabat opened their CAF Women’s Champions League campaigns with a goalless draw on Sunday, November 1, as neither team managed to find the breakthrough in their Group A encounter.

The two sides faced off at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt, in the opening fixture of the 2026 edition of the continental competition.

Both teams approached the encounter with ambitions of securing a winning start to their campaign, but a closely contested battle ultimately ended without a goal.

Lekie FF, representing Cameroon, showed determination against their Moroccan counterparts, while FUS Rabat equally struggled to turn their attacking opportunities into goals.

Despite efforts from both sides to break the deadlock, neither team could find the decisive finish, forcing them to settle for a point apiece at the end of the encounter.

The result means both clubs will have to wait for their first victory of the tournament as they look to strengthen their chances of progressing from Group A.

Lekie FF will return to action on Wednesday, November 4, when they take on South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns in what promises to be a challenging second group-stage fixture.

The Cameroonian representatives will be hoping to build on their opening performance and secure maximum points against the former African champions.

Meanwhile, FUS Rabat will also be looking to improve their attacking output in their next assignment as the Moroccan side pursues a place in the knockout stages.

The 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League officially got underway in Egypt on Sunday, November 1, with eight clubs from across the continent competing for Africa’s premier women’s club football title.

The tournament will run until November 15, with the participating teams battling for continental supremacy and the opportunity to be crowned champions of Africa.
