Pathé Mboup to get first Senegal call up

Brest forward Pathé Mboup is reportedly in contention to earn his maiden call-up to the Senegal national team ahead of the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

According to reports, the 23-year-old attacker is expected to be included in Patrick Vieira’s squad for the third and fourth matchdays of the qualifiers.

Senegal are scheduled to face Sudan in a two-legged encounter, with the first meeting set for November 12 before the return fixture on November 16.

Mboup’s impressive performances in the French Ligue 1 have reportedly caught the attention of the Senegalese technical team, putting him in contention for a place in the squad.

The Brest attacker has enjoyed a promising start to the campaign, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the French top flight. His contributions have helped raise his profile as he continues to establish himself at the club.

The former youth prospect has also openly expressed his desire to represent Senegal at senior international level, insisting that seeing other Ligue 1 players earn national team invitations has motivated him to work harder.

“The national team is one of my goals. When I see Ligue 1 players being called up, it makes me even more determined to work hard to earn my place in the squad. It’s one of my goals: to join the national team this year,” he said.

A maiden invitation would represent a significant milestone in Mboup’s career, offering him an opportunity to showcase his abilities on the international stage and strengthen Senegal’s attacking options. Should his inclusion be confirmed when the squad is announced, the Brest forward will see his long-held ambition of representing the Lions of Teranga at senior level move closer to reality
