Thierno Barry breaks silence after burglars target Everton striker’s home

Everton forward Thierno Barry has expressed relief that his family was not at home when burglars broke into his house during the club’s match against Newcastle United on Thursday.

The French striker, who scored and provided an assist in the game, was left shaken by the incident after discovering that his property had been targeted while he was on the pitch.

Barry addressed the incident in a message shared on his Instagram story, admitting that his immediate concern was the safety of his family, who had accompanied him to the stadium.

“Given what happened, all I can think about is that my family was with me at the stadium and not at home. Things could have been much worse,” he wrote.

The 23-year-old also reflected on whether sharing details of his private life on social media may have exposed his family to unnecessary risks.

He suggested that his decision to give the public a closer look at his lifestyle might have made his home more vulnerable, although he did not directly accuse anyone of being responsible for the burglary.

“I truly believe that nothing happens by chance. Perhaps I opened up my life and my family’s lives too much, which may have put them in danger. I just wanted to show my daily life and inspire others by talking about my journey and my successes.”

His comments appeared to refer to a video featuring influencer Just Rihad, which was published in early October. The video offered viewers a glimpse into Barry’s personal life and daily routine, including a tour of his impressive home, which had a James Bond-style design.

The footage had given the public an insight into the striker’s lifestyle away from football. Barry’s latest message suggests he has since reconsidered how much of his private life he chooses to share publicly.

Despite the unsettling experience, the Everton forward insisted that the incident would not distract him from his ambitions for the season.

Barry described the burglary as a lesson and stressed that protecting his loved ones was now his main priority.

“This is a lesson learned,” he said.

He added: “The most important thing in life is to move on and protect the people you love. That’s what truly matters. The rest is just material possessions. Nothing and no one will stop me from making this my season.”

The striker’s message underlined his determination to put the incident behind him and remain focused on his performances for Everton, while placing the safety of his family above material possessions.
