Luis Enrique explains attacking freedom behind Achraf Hakimi’s hat-trick heroics
Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has explained the tactical freedom given to Achraf Hakimi after the Moroccan defender delivered a sensational performance in their 5-1 victory over Le Havre in Ligue 1.
The 27-year-old right-back scored his first career hat-trick and provided two assists, contributing to all five goals as the French champions extended their winning streak in all competitions to nine matches.
Speaking after Friday’s encounter, Enrique highlighted Hakimi’s attacking responsibilities, explaining that the defender is encouraged to push forward and influence proceedings whenever PSG have possession.
“Hakimi has freedom, he can attack when we have the ball. When we don’t have the ball, he has the obligation to defend!” the Spanish coach explained.
Enrique’s tactical approach allows Hakimi to operate in advanced positions, using his pace, movement and attacking instincts to create opportunities for his teammates and threaten opposition defences.
The Moroccan international demonstrated the effectiveness of that freedom against Le Havre, scoring twice from open play before completing his hat-trick with a superb direct free-kick.
He also provided assists for Mika Godts and Senny Mayulu to complete an outstanding individual display.
Enrique has previously described Hakimi as the best right-back in world football, praising his consistency and ability to maintain an exceptional level of performance.
The victory further strengthened PSG’s position at the top of Ligue 1, with the Parisians moving two points clear of their nearest challengers after nine matches.
