Hussein Ammouta under pressure despite Al Ahly victory over Modern Sport
Pressure is mounting on Al Ahly coach Hussein Ammouta despite his team’s recent victory over Modern Sport, with supporters continuing to question the side’s performances ahead of their meeting with Raja Casablanca in the CAF competition.
Although Ammouta has recorded positive results since taking charge, sections of the Egyptian giants’ fanbase remain dissatisfied with the team’s performances and are demanding improvements in both results and playing style.
Al Ahly fans demand change
A number of Al Ahly supporters have reportedly chanted angry slogans and called for Ammouta’s dismissal during recent matches, citing inconsistency and a lack of convincing performances.
The Moroccan coach has addressed the criticism during press conferences, insisting that he is working to correct the team’s problems and improve its performances.
Sports critics and media personalities, including Amir Hisham, have also questioned the team’s progress under Ammouta, arguing that his continuation in the role does not serve the club’s ambitions and urging the management to intervene.
However, Al Ahly’s management remains committed to technical stability while closely monitoring the team’s performances and results in the coming weeks.
Narrow victory over Modern Sport
The pressure comes despite Al Ahly’s 1-0 victory over Modern Sport, a result that was secured with the help of goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir.
Shobeir proved decisive in the closing stages, saving a penalty in the final minutes to preserve his side’s narrow advantage and secure all three points.
Despite the victory, the team’s performance did little to silence the concerns among supporters.
Raja Casablanca showdown awaits
Ammouta now faces an important test as Al Ahly prepare to take on Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in the CAF competition.
The first meeting is scheduled for December 18 in Cairo, with the return fixture set to take place in Casablanca on January 8.
The two encounters will provide another opportunity for Al Ahly to demonstrate progress under the Moroccan coach as scrutiny over his position continues.
