Manchester United are reportedly considering a January move for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the French forward has emerged as a potential transfer target for the Old Trafford club, with his future at Selhurst Park uncertain.

Mateta’s current contract runs until June 2027, and he is expected to leave Palace, potentially making him available during the January transfer window.

Mateta previously attracted interest from Italy

The Crystal Palace striker was previously linked with AC Milan and Juventus during the 2026 winter transfer window.

However, neither Italian club completed a deal for the forward, leaving him at Selhurst Park.

Manchester United could now consider taking advantage of his situation as they assess possible options to reinforce their attack.

Contract dispute complicates Palace situation

Mateta’s future has also been affected by a disagreement over Crystal Palace’s unilateral decision to extend his contract.

The Frenchman questioned the validity of the additional year, but both the Premier League’s independent arbitration panel and FIFA refused to rule in his favour.

His contractual situation could therefore remain an important factor as interest in his services develops ahead of January.
