Ramy Bensebaini fit for Borussia Dortmund’s Klassiker against Bayern Munich

Borussia Dortmund have received a major boost ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga showdown against Bayern Munich, with Ramy Bensebaini expected to be available after recovering from a painful thigh injury.

According to Sky, the 31-year-old Algerian defender will travel with the Dortmund squad to Munich after overcoming the muscular discomfort he sustained during last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bensebaini suffered a painful thigh contusion after taking a knock during the closing stages against Frankfurt but managed to complete the encounter.

He subsequently missed Tuesday’s DFB-Pokal meeting with Werder Bremen, although his absence was due to a suspension rather than his injury.

The additional recovery time appears to have helped the defender overcome the problem, allowing head coach Niko Kovač to consider him for the crucial trip to the Allianz Arena.

His availability represents an important boost for Dortmund, particularly given his experience and defensive versatility.

Bensebaini could now return to the starting lineup as the Black and Yellows prepare for one of their biggest fixtures of the Bundesliga campaign.

Dortmund travel to Munich level on 17 points with Bayern after seven league matches, making Saturday’s encounter particularly significant in the early title race.

With the Algerian defender back in contention, Kovač will have another experienced option as his side look to challenge the Bundesliga leaders on their home ground.
