Shandre Campbell named in South Africa U23 squad for Madagascar Olympic qualifiers
South Africa Under-23 head coach Raymond Mdaka has named a final 24-man squad for the side’s back-to-back Olympic Games qualifiers against Madagascar.
Amaglug-glug will meet Madagascar on Saturday, 14 November, before the return leg on Tuesday, 17 November. Both matches will be played at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
The headline inclusion is Bafana Bafana forward Shandre Campbell, who recently joined the senior national team camp for the 2027 AFCON Qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea.
Campbell provided the assist for Puso Dithejane’s goal in South Africa’s 1-0 victory over Egypt.
The youngster’s inclusion gives Mdaka an attacking option with recent experience of the senior international set-up as South Africa begin their bid to qualify for the Olympic Games.
Mdaka, who guided South Africa to victory at the 2026 COSAFA U20 Championship, has also been balancing responsibilities with the Under-20 and Under-23 teams.
The two fixtures against Madagascar will be staged at the same venue, with the first match on 14 November and the second four days later on 17 November.
