Hansi Flick attracted almost one million followers within 24 hours of opening his official Instagram account, underlining the level of interest in the Barcelona manager beyond his work on the pitch.
The German coach had gained more than 950,000 followers shortly after joining the platform, with supporters responding quickly to his first appearance online. His account became a notable talking point among Barcelona fans despite containing only one post and two Stories.
Flick’s opening message was addressed directly to the club’s supporters. He said he was pleased to join Instagram and wanted to share selected moments from his daily life in Barcelona.
“Hello Culers! I’m very happy to share some moments from my everyday life in Barcelona with you. Thank you very much for your support… Visca Barca!” he wrote.
The closing Catalan greeting reflected Flick’s effort to connect with Barcelona supporters in their own language and to acknowledge the backing he has received since taking charge of the team.
His first post received more than one million likes, attracting attention from both the club’s supporters and football followers more widely.
The account’s growth was rapid from the outset. Flick had 283,000 followers just one hour after creating his verified profile, before the number continued to rise quickly and passed 950,000 in less than a day.
Messages with different meanings
Flick used his first two Stories to offer further insight into his character away from the touchline.
In the first, he again welcomed Barcelona supporters and expressed his enthusiasm at being on Instagram. He repeated his intention to share moments from his everyday life during his time in the Catalan city.
The second carried a more serious and personal message. Using an image from one of Barcelona’s training sessions, Flick expressed his condolences to those affected by the tragic train accident in Toledo.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of the tragic train accident in Toledo. My thoughts are with everyone affected, and I wish the injured a speedy and full recovery,” he wrote in English.
The message offered support to the victims’ families, as well as to those who were injured or otherwise affected by the incident, and became one of the defining moments of his first day on the platform.
A tightly focused following list
Another detail to draw attention was the small number of accounts Flick had chosen to follow. His list contained only 27 profiles.
Those accounts were limited to his immediate professional environment at Barcelona: the club’s official account and the personal accounts of the 26 players in the squad.
That selection keeps Flick’s new profile closely connected to his current footballing responsibilities and the players he works with, while his arrival on Instagram has already generated significant engagement.
Barcelona face Deportivo Alaves in La Liga on 31 October 2026, before meeting Aston Villa in the Champions League on 03 November 2026.
