Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace have secured Samir El Mourabet’s future by extending the 21-year-old midfielder’s contract until 2031.

The new agreement underlines the club’s faith in a player developed within its own system and regarded as an important part of Strasbourg’s sporting plans.

Born in Strasbourg, El Mourabet joined the club at the age of 10. He progressed through the Racing Mutest Academie before making the step up to the first team, and the contract extension marks another milestone in his development.

El Mourabet established himself as a regular last season, making 48 appearances in all competitions. He was also involved in Strasbourg’s European campaign in the Conference League, contributing as the club progressed through the competition.

His performances at club level also led to greater recognition with Morocco. The midfielder represented the country at the World Cup held this summer, an experience that represented another significant stage in his progress.

By agreeing a deal that runs until 2031, Strasbourg have made clear their intention to retain one of their promising young players and continue his development in Alsace.

El Mourabet has reportedly attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain, while his market value is estimated at 22 million euros by Transfermarkt. RB Leipzig also showed an interest in the Morocco international during the previous summer transfer window, according to exclusive information from Africafoot.

Strasbourg’s next fixture will come in the ninth round of the French championship, when they face AJ Auxerre.
