PSG Rule Out January Move for Ibrahim Maza

Paris Saint-Germain do not plan to make an offer for Ibrahim Maza during the January transfer window, despite the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder’s impressive progress and growing reputation, according to RMC Sport.

Journalist Fabrice Hawkins reports that the French champions are not currently considering a move for the 20-year-old Algeria international, whose performances have attracted attention amid speculation about his future.

Although PSG remain interested in recruiting young players with significant potential, Maza is not among the club’s planned additions for the winter transfer window. The report indicates that his arrival in Paris is not part of the club’s current strategy.

The development represents a setback for hopes of seeing the midfielder move to the French capital in January. However, PSG’s decision not to pursue him does not mean the club will remain inactive in the transfer market.

PSG maintain their transfer plans

According to RMC Sport, PSG have taken a clear position on Maza, with the club’s management not planning to submit an offer to Leverkusen during the upcoming window.

The French side are continuing to assess potential opportunities in the market, but any recruitment will depend on the circumstances surrounding the available players and the financial terms involved.

The situation is also linked to the club’s approach to injuries within the squad. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s long-term absence has raised questions about whether PSG might seek additional attacking options, but manager Luis Enrique has previously indicated that a significant injury does not automatically mean the club must sign a replacement.

That position suggests PSG are prepared to consider their options carefully rather than make a signing simply to fill a gap in the squad.

Young recruits remain an option

Despite ruling out a January move for Maza, PSG have not completely closed the door on strengthening their squad.

RMC Sport reports that the club could still consider signing a young player with considerable potential if the asking price is reasonable. Such an addition would not necessarily need to be a direct replacement for Kvaratskhelia.

The club’s approach is therefore focused on identifying a suitable opportunity rather than committing to a particular signing.

PSG are also counting on Mika Godts, who scored his first goal for the club in Monday’s 2-0 Ligue 1 victory against Lyon. His contribution offers another option as the team manages its attacking resources.

Maza continues to impress at Leverkusen

While speculation continues over his future, Maza has made a promising start to the season with Bayer Leverkusen.

The 20-year-old has recorded three goals and three assists in 10 appearances across all competitions, underlining his growing influence in the German side’s attacking play.

His development has also received international recognition, with the Algerian midfielder finishing ninth in the 2026 Kopa Trophy rankings.

Maza remains under contract with Leverkusen until June 2030, giving the German club a long-term agreement with the young midfielder as he continues his development.

Although his performances have strengthened his reputation, RMC Sport’s report indicates that they have not persuaded PSG to pursue a January transfer.

For now, the midfielder’s immediate future remains at Leverkusen, while PSG continue to assess the market for young players who fit their recruitment plans and financial expectations.
