Liverpool are continuing to assess midfield options, with Lamine Camara currently appearing to be a higher priority than Manu Kone, according to journalist David Lynch.
Speaking on the Media Matters podcast, Lynch said the Senegal international was ahead of Kone in Liverpool’s recruitment plans. However, the club remain interested in the Franco-Ivorian midfielder, who plays for AS Roma, as they consider ways to strengthen their squad.
Liverpool were unable to sign Camara during the most recent summer transfer window, but their interest in the AS Monaco midfielder has not diminished. The Reds could therefore return with a fresh approach in a future transfer window.
Camara’s performances and influence in midfield have made him an attractive option for Liverpool. The 20-year-old Senegal international is under contract with AS Monaco until 30 June 2029 and is valued at 55 million euros. He earns 1,380,000 euros (897,000,000 FCFA) per year in France.
Kone is also regarded as a potential solution in central midfield because of his qualities in that area. He is contracted to AS Roma until 30 June 2029 and has a valuation of 60 million euros.
Despite Liverpool’s interest, Lynch believes a move for Kone in January 2027 is unlikely. The summer transfer window could provide a more realistic opportunity for the club to pursue a deal, although Liverpool will first need to establish their priorities and assess what is financially possible.
AS Roma are due to face Udinese in their 10th match of the Italian championship.
