French Ligue 1 fixtures rearranged amid nationwide protests

Ligue 1 has changed the schedules for several matches after government authorities requested postponements because of widespread protests across France.

The demonstrations have already led to more than one match being postponed over the past two weeks.

Lyon’s home fixture against Angers, originally scheduled for Saturday evening, will now be played on Sunday at noon, the French league said in a statement.

The league also confirmed changes to two other matches that had been due to take place on Saturday.

Nice will host Stade Rennais on Friday evening, while Lorient’s match against Stade Brestois has been moved to Monday.

French cities have seen protests over the rising cost of living, with the unrest escalating into unprecedented violence in recent days and hours.
