Duba hat-trick silences TS Galaxy banter as Kaizer Chiefs advance

Kaizer Chiefs forward Wandile Duba answered weeks of pre-match taunting from TS Galaxy by scoring all three goals in a 3-0 Carling Knockout Cup victory at FNB Stadium.

The 22-year-old produced a standout display as Amakhosi defeated the Rockets and moved into the next round of the competition.

Duba said the desire to respond to TS Galaxy’s comments had provided extra motivation before the match, adding that their opponents failed to match their words once the game began.

“These ones disrespected us a lot in the social media for the past two weeks,” Duba told SuperSport TV.

“We knew today that we had to win this game. The donkeys made them run today and they were nowhere to be seen.”

The result ends TS Galaxy’s involvement in the Carling Knockout Cup and gives Kaizer Chiefs a chance to continue their pursuit of silverware. The Soweto club are waiting for the draw for the next round, having last won a trophy in the 2024/25 season.

Kaizer Chiefs will now turn their attention to the Betway Premiership, with a major Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates scheduled for Saturday, 31 October, at FNB Stadium.
