Toulouse FC have begun negotiations with goalkeeper Guillaume Restes over a contract extension that could keep him at the club until June 2030.
The discussions, reported by Ekrem Konur, underline the importance Toulouse place on the young goalkeeper as they plan for the coming seasons. Restes is currently under contract with the Ligue 1 club until June 2028.
Several European clubs are understood to be monitoring the France international. Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Aston Villa, Ipswich Town and Napoli are all reported to be interested in the goalkeeper.
Toulouse are therefore looking to act before rival clubs can make a formal move. The club regard Restes as one of their most promising players and hope a new agreement would help secure his future while reducing the possibility of him moving to another European project.
Negotiations are ongoing and no final agreement has been announced.
Restes, who is of Ivorian origin, has attracted increasing attention since establishing himself as an important part of Toulouse’s plans. Data from Transfermarkt values the goalkeeper at €18m.
A contract running through June 2030 would strengthen Toulouse’s position in discussions with any interested clubs and allow them to continue building around Restes.
Toulouse’s next fixture is against Marseille in the ninth round of the French championship.
