Al-Ittihad give positive Mohamedou Doumbia update after ACL surgery

Al-Ittihad have issued a positive update on Mohamedou Doumbia’s recovery, six months after the Mali player underwent surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament.

Doumbia recently completed detailed medical examinations in France to assess his progress following the operation.

In a statement on their website, Al-Ittihad said: “Doumbia underwent a routine medical assessment in the French city of Lyon last Thursday, six months after the ACL surgery.”

The club added: “The medical examinations and functional assessments produced encouraging results. The player has achieved the targets set for this stage of his recovery and will continue with his individual rehabilitation programme.”

Doumbia is expected to maintain that individual programme in the coming period before gradually returning to parts of Al-Ittihad’s group training over the next few weeks.

The club said his condition and progress will continue to be monitored closely as he increases his involvement in team sessions.
