A Turkish researcher in Islamic sciences has urged Trabzonspor supporters to stop a chant dedicated to Mohamed Salah, warning that it could bring “God’s anger” upon the city.
Fans have been heard chanting “Allah Allah, Mohamed Salah” after the Egyptian forward scores. Ihsan Senocak criticised the wording, arguing that it uses religious expressions in an inappropriate setting inside the stadium.
Speaking about the chant, Senocak highlighted Trabzon’s longstanding religious and scholarly reputation.
“What is Trabzon? It is the home of scholars, is it not?” he said.
He then questioned why supporters in the city would use the chant, adding: “How can tens of thousands of people in Trabzon, which derives its honour from Islam and faith, chant ‘Allah Allah, Mohamed Salah’? Where did you get this from?”
Senocak also issued a direct appeal to Trabzonspor fans to abandon the chant immediately.
“Stop this at once,” he said. “You will bring God’s anger upon us. Calamities and trials will befall us.”
His comments have prompted widespread debate on social media in recent days, with the issue becoming a subject of discussion across Turkey.
Salah joined Trabzonspor for free last summer in a move that caused considerable attention throughout the country.
