Premier League’s 34 leading scorers: Salah among the modern greats

Alan Shearer remains the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer with 260 goals, a record that has withstood the challenge of generations of elite forwards.

Shearer reached that total during spells with Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, establishing one of the most difficult records to surpass in modern football.

Harry Kane is second on the list with 213 goals. The former Tottenham player is followed by Manchester United’s “Golden Boy”, Wayne Rooney, who scored 208 times in the competition.

Mohamed Salah is fourth with 193 goals, having moved ahead of a number of Premier League legends before his departure to the Turkish league. The Egypt forward scored 191 goals for Liverpool and added two during his time at Chelsea.

Salah is also the leading non-English foreign goalscorer in Premier League history. Among the other highest-scoring overseas players are Manchester City great Sergio Aguero, with 184 goals, and Arsenal icon Thierry Henry, who finished with 175.

Andy Cole, who played for both Manchester United and Newcastle United, is fifth overall with 187 goals. Frank Lampard, another former Chelsea and England midfielder, is seventh on 177, while Robbie Fowler and Jermain Defoe complete the next two places with 163 and 162 respectively.
