Tanguy Ndombele begins trial at Rubin Kazan as midfielder seeks new club
Former France international Tanguy Ndombele is attempting to revive his career after beginning a trial period with Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan.
The 29-year-old midfielder is currently without a club after leaving OGC Nice in the summer, and Rubin Kazan are assessing his fitness and performances before deciding whether to offer him a contract.
The Russian club confirmed the arrangement on social media, explaining that Ndombele would train with the first-team squad during an evaluation period before a decision is made regarding his future.
Ndombele’s potential move comes after a difficult final season at Nice, where injuries restricted him to just 13 appearances across all competitions. His departure left him searching for a new opportunity to get his career back on track.
He initially made his name at Lyon before joining Tottenham in 2019 in a club-record transfer. However, he struggled to establish himself consistently in north London and subsequently spent loan spells at Lyon, Napoli and Galatasaray.
His spell at Napoli included winning the Serie A title in 2023, while his experience at Galatasaray added another league championship to his career.
Ndombele has also earned seven caps for France, although he has not featured for the national team since 2021.
