Golden Arrows appoint Mandla Ncikazi as head coach after Orlando Pirates exit
South African Premier Soccer League side Golden Arrows have officially appointed Mandla Ncikazi as their new head coach following his departure from Orlando Pirates.
The 57-year-old tactician returns to independent management after serving as an assistant coach at the Soweto giants, bringing considerable experience and familiarity with the Durban-based club.
Golden Arrows have turned to Ncikazi as they look to improve their performances and restore consistency amid their struggles in the domestic league.
His appointment is expected to provide the team with renewed direction, with the immediate priority being to stabilise results, strengthen the defensive organisation and push the club towards the upper half of the league table.
Ncikazi is no stranger to Golden Arrows, having previously coached the club during the 2020/21 season. He enjoyed an impressive campaign, guiding the team to fourth place in the South African top flight, one of the club’s notable achievements in recent years.
His previous success with the Durban outfit is expected to count in his favour as he begins his latest spell in charge, with his knowledge of the club’s structure and expectations potentially helping him settle quickly into the role.
After leaving Golden Arrows following that successful campaign, Ncikazi joined Orlando Pirates, where he worked as part of the technical team and contributed to the club’s domestic cup successes.
His experience at one of South Africa’s biggest clubs further enhanced his reputation, making him a familiar and respected figure within the country’s football circles.
Golden Arrows will now hope his return can spark an improvement in performances and help the team climb the league standings as the season progresses.
