Orlando Pirates defend narrow lead against African Stars in CAF Champions League

Orlando Pirates will try to secure their place in the CAF Champions League group phase when they host African Stars in the second preliminary round second leg on Friday.

The Buccaneers take a 1-0 advantage into the match at the Orlando Amstel Arena after Tshepang Moremi scored in the second half of the first leg in Botswana.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 20h00 and will be listed live on SABC 2, with streaming also available on the SABC Plus App.

Pirates are seeking a sixth appearance in the group phase of the competition. They have, however, been knocked out at this stage in each of the past two seasons.

African Stars are aiming to reach the group stage for the first time in their history. The Namibian club have previously failed to progress beyond the next round on four occasions.

The two teams have met once before in the competition. Their previous tie came in the first preliminary round of the 2018/19 CAF Champions League, when Pirates advanced after winning 1-0 on aggregate.

A draw would be enough for Pirates to move through, while African Stars must overcome the one-goal deficit to keep their campaign alive.
