Barcelona star Lamine Yamal’s father responds to criticism over his wealth
Mounir Nasraoui, the father of Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal, has sparked debate on social media after declaring that he does not need to work because he has millions.
Nasraoui made the comments during an Instagram livestream in which he complained about a drinking fountain for dogs in Barcelona’s Pedralbes neighbourhood being without water.
According to Spanish newspaper El Español, the discussion took an unexpected turn when viewers questioned his lifestyle and financial situation, with one person telling him to find a job.
Nasraoui responded: “I don’t need to work, young man. I have millions, thank God.”
His remarks quickly circulated on social media, prompting reactions from users questioning his comments and his financial reliance on his son, one of football’s most prominent young talents.

The latest exchange is not the first time Nasraoui has addressed criticism suggesting that he benefits financially from his son’s success.
During an earlier Instagram livestream, he responded to similar comments by acknowledging the support he receives from the Barcelona forward.
“They ask me why I don’t go to work, saying that I live off my son,” Nasraoui said.
“Thank you, son. I will always be grateful to you. I will live off you for the rest of my life,” he added.
Spanish media interpreted the remarks as sarcastic.
Barcelona star’s father attracts social media attention
Nasraoui has become increasingly active on social media as his son’s profile has grown at Barcelona and with the Spanish national team.
His Instagram account, where he regularly shares personal videos and comments on various subjects, has attracted more than one million followers.
The latest controversy began with his complaint about the condition of a public drinking fountain in Pedralbes, which he claimed had been without water for two weeks.
He subsequently shared another video showing that the water supply had been restored.
The incident has once again placed Nasraoui in the social media spotlight, with the discussion extending beyond his complaint about the public facility to questions about his lifestyle and his relationship with his son’s financial success.
