University of Pretoria coach Sibusiso Themba says discipline and continued adherence to their game plan will be central to Tuks’ hopes of claiming three points against Diepkloof Ladies in the Hollywoodbets Super League on Friday.
Tuks travel to Wits Football Stadium looking to return to winning ways after being held to a draw by Copperbelts FC in their previous match. Their opponents, meanwhile, are battling to avoid relegation, setting the stage for a demanding encounter.
Although University of Pretoria are higher in the standings, Themba does not expect an easy afternoon against DK Ladies.
“We are honestly expecting a tough game against DK Ladies, but we’ve been preparing well. We’ll go out there, stick to our game plan, and do our best to get the three points. Even though we are slightly higher on the log, they will still not be an easy team to beat,” said Themba.
Tuks have won six of their 11 matches and are second in the Hollywoodbets Super League – Super Era division on 20 points.
Themba feels his side have made encouraging progress during the campaign, although he believes the squad must continue addressing areas where it can improve.
“I think the team has been doing well so far, and we’ve had some good and of course bad moments this season. I believe we’re moving in the right direction, but there are still things we can improve on. We just need to keep working hard, growing as a team, and giving our very best in every game,” added Themba.
The coach has also been pleased with the way the players are developing their understanding on the pitch. As the league becomes increasingly competitive, he says Tuks’ combinations are improving with every match.
“The league has been quite competitive and challenging, with every team bringing something different. I think our combinations are getting better with each game, and the more we play together, the better we understand each other on the pitch. There’s still some work to do, but we’re building a good understanding as a team,” he expressed.
