Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-2 victory over FC Barcelona at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, highlighted the intensity of their pressing, the quality of their attack and their control of midfield, according to football analyst Ramiz Alim Gouem.
The result underlined what Gouem considers to be the main strengths behind PSG’s current form. He believes the French club’s ability to apply pressure immediately after losing possession prevents opponents from establishing their own style of play.
“PSG are a strong team because of their attacking quality and their pressing as soon as they lose the ball. That means they stop their opponents from settling into the game,” he said.
Gouem regards the speed with which PSG regain possession as one of their most important weapons. By disrupting the opposition’s build-up, the Parisians can recover the ball in advanced areas and launch further attacks before the opposing defence has time to reorganise.
Kvaratskhelia and Doue provide attacking threat
The analyst also pointed to the contribution of PSG’s wide players, particularly Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue.
“With wingers like Kvara and Doue, it becomes easier to make a defence vulnerable,” Gouem said.
Their ability to take on defenders, change pace and create space gives PSG another way to unsettle opponents. Their movement and individual quality add to the pressure placed on defences already dealing with the team’s aggressive approach without the ball.
Gouem also highlighted the balance provided in midfield, where he believes PSG have significant strengths. He singled out Joao Neves for his work in challenges, his reading of the game and his ability to anticipate danger.
Vitinha, meanwhile, was praised for his technical quality and his capacity to select the right pass at the right moment. Gouem considers that quality important in helping PSG maintain the fluency of their play and connect their defensive pressure with their attacking movements.
For the analyst, the combination of intense pressing, attacking power and technical control explains why PSG have been able to continue their progress following the win over FC Barcelona.
“PSG are still in full flight,” he concluded, saying the club possess strong assets to continue establishing themselves on the European stage.
